BATAAN'S NAME These are some pictures of the Bataan peninsula. Bataan got its name from two Dominican friars in Abucay during the Spanish period in the Philippines. They have seen children playing with an ugly frog named "Batan." The adults told the friars "mga bata, nilalaro si Batan" (the kids are playing with Batan) again and again. Since the friars were not able to comprehend with what the adults told them, they only remembered two words, "bata" and "Batan" so they started referring to the place as Bataan. source: http://www.philippinesinsider.com/myths-folklore-superstition/folklore-on-how-bataan-got-its-name/
